Sonic Photogram

I have been creating works that attempt to visualize sound through photography.
In the course of this practice, I encountered Chladni figures, a method of making sound visible.

I began to consider whether this phenomenon could be fixed onto photographic materials such as photographic paper or negative film. To explore this, I combined it with the photogram technique, working without the use of a camera.

In this work, granular particles are scattered directly onto negative film, and the Chladni method is applied. The movement and trajectories of sound, occurring over the duration of exposure under an enlarger, are thereby recorded and visualized.
